To notice is to see what is directing our attention. To return is to choose where it goes.
NEW YORK CITY
SISTERS
OF NEW YORK

Sisters of New York—also known as the Weed Nuns of New York—is a New York City–based, women-led collective exploring expanded awareness through intentional practice, education, gathering and community.
Modern life gives us extraordinary access, but surprisingly little space to simply be. Sisters of New York creates room to step outside the everyday, to slow down, connect, explore, learn, play and experience ourselves and one another differently.
Our guiding principles
A practice of awareness.
Eight principles that guide how we pay attention, act with intention, relate to one another and move through the world.
Attention is not passive. What we sustain with it gains power.
What we become aware of asks something of us. Intention is how we answer.
Certainty protects what we already know. Curiosity makes room for what we have yet to see.
When we are distracted, we are easier to influence. When we are disconnected, we are easier to divide. Presence interrupts both.
Freedom is both what we claim for ourselves and what we make possible for one another. Liberation is the ongoing practice of both.
Nobody should be in jail for weed.
Individually, we see from where we stand. In relationship, we encounter what our own experience cannot reveal.
Healing began before we had a name for it. The body’s ability to repair, adapt and restore itself is older than medicine. We heal within nature, because we are part of it.
